The panel includes:
Major General James (Jamie) Jarrard is the Chief of Staff of Indo-Pacific Command. General Jarrard has significant experience in the Pacific with 2-27 Infantry and as the 25th Infantry Division Commander. General Jarrard has also fulfilled numerous appointments across European and Middle Eastern theaters, in addition to academic experience as a Senior Service College Fellow to the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies.
Dr. Tess Newton Cain is the Project Lead for the Pacific Hub at the Griffith University, Asia Institute and is a Pacific Analyst with over twenty years of firsthand experience in the region.
Dr. Eli Berman is Director of the Empirical Studies of Conflict (ESOC) Project at Princeton University and leads the Deterrence with Proxies research project. Berman is expert in economic development in fragile environments, with a focus on conflict. He teaches at the University of California, San Diego Department of Economics.
Dr. Thomas (Tommy) Jamison is a military historian and Asst. Professor of Strategic Studies in the Defense Analysis Dept., Naval Postgraduate School. A Chinese speaker, he has formerly worked as a Defense Intelligence Agency Staff Officer in both the Western Pacific and Afghanistan.
Dr. Shehzi Khan is the Senior Policy and Strategy Adviser to the Deputy Commander, INDOPACOM, who will be the moderator for this panel discussion.
