John Pennell

Dr. John Pennell is a former U.S. Senior Foreign Service Officer with vast experience in all regions of the world. He’s currently Editor-in-Chief of PRISM, the U.S. Department of War’s flagship journal on irregular, hybrid, and gray-zone conflict. He’s also a published author, including a 2024 book on Russia’s irregular activities in Syria and Ukraine. He holds a PhD from King’s College London and masters degrees from the U.S. National War College and American University.
