Katherine Zimmerman
Katherine Zimmerman has extensive counterterrorism experience, having served as a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) and advised AEI’s Critical Threats Project. Her research has focused on the global Salafi-jihadi movement and counterterrorism as well as related trends in the Middle East and Africa. Ms. Zimmerman has testified before Congress, and her commentary and analyses have been widely published, including in CNN.com, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, FoxNews.com, The Hill, Routledge Handbook of Transnational Terrorism, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post. She is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a member of the RESOLVE Network Research Advisory Network. She holds an MA in terrorism, security and society from King’s College London and a BA in political science and modern Middle East studies from Yale University. Currently with the Afghanistan War Commission, Ms. Zimmerman joins the IWI Team in her personal capacity.
