Project Europe US Liaison
Colonel Mike Fazio grew up in White Plains, NY and commissioned through Boston University’s Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program as a Special Tactics Officer in 2004. Since then, he has effectively leveraged the breadth of Air Force and Special Operations capabilities to solve problems of national significance.
His experience the past 20 years includes synchronizing ground and airpower in Africa, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific. As a Joint Terminal Attack Controller in Afghanistan and Iraq, he integrated with US Army Special Forces and US Navy SEAL teams to train foreign armies and direct air power during offensive operations against the Taliban and Al Qaeda. In Yemen, he supervised a Joint Force of 50 people to locate and remove terrorists from the battlefield. In Somalia he played a critical role in the rescue of American and Danish citizens. He also served as a Joint Task Force operations officer focused on great power competition in the Indo- Pacific. After completion of a master’s degree in public policy from Johns Hopkins University, he worked as a strategist on the Air Force Staff at the Pentagon, commanded a Special Tactics Squadron, and graduated from National War College. He has served on the Joint Staff to provide special operations expertise to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for military advice to the Secretary of Defense and President of the United States. He now serves as Deputy Director for Force Resiliency in support of 697,000 Airmen and Guardians in the Department of the Air Force. He’s also a certified air traffic controller, SCUBA diver, C-licensed parachutist, avid learner, and staunch Yankees fan. While proud of his military service, the most rewarding thing in his life is being husband to his wife Julia, the finest intel analyst in the FBI, and father to his two energetic children Finnegan and Fiona.
