Pierre-yves Baillet

Pierre-Yves Baillet is an independent journalist and analyst specializing in irregular and hybrid conflicts. As part of his Master’s degree at the French Institute of Geopolitics, he conducted research on the governance structures of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.
His work focuses on contemporary forms of irregular warfare, hybrid conflict, and non-state armed actors. In this context, he has carried out field research in several conflict zones, notably in the Middle East and Europe. His investigations have brought him into direct contact with a wide range of armed groups and politico-military organizations, including the Kurdish PKK, Palestinian factions in Lebanon, Chechen opposition fighters in Ukraine, and migrant smuggling networks in the Balkans.
He also co-founded Frog of War, a collective dedicated to war reporting, with the objective of improving training, professional standards, and operational support for independent conflict journalists.
