Tanya Lim
Analyst, Wargaming Division
Tanya Lim is a defence policy analyst at the Ministry of Defence, Singapore, where she
works on strategic planning with a focus on Southeast Asia. She also serves as an Analyst in
the Wargaming Division at the Irregular Warfare Initiative, where she supports scenario
design and simulation modelling for IWI’s annual tabletop exercises and custom wargames
for government and special operations partners.
Her interests bridge computational social science and defence policy, with a focus on
information resilience, regional security, and emerging technologies. She previously worked
with NATO StratCom to explore the use of large language models to model disinformation in
under-resourced languages and map Chinese and Russian disinformation narratives related to
climate change. She has also worked on Singapore’s online trust and safety policies and
worked on mapping financial fraudulent networks using graph neural networks.
Tanya holds a BSc in Economics from King’s College London and an MSc in Data Science
from Columbia University. She works primarily in Python and R, with experience in NLP
and network analysis.
